Hello December!

Autumn in Germany

Oh my! It´s been a long time since I was writing in my Bloggers blogs. Time really flies too fast and now it´s December again. What kept me from posting here? Well Guys, I have a lot of things on my "plate". I have started working offline for a part time job and I was also busy writing on my other writing sites in Blogjob. Now I am back. I am updating something.

Well, what have I done these last few months? Writing, writing and working!!!

  1. I am a contributor of PILYA BLOG MAGAZINE which are for sale mainly in Germany. I am proud of myself to be a part of this magazine.
  2. My Thai friend asks me to work again in her massage wellness spa as a mini jobber and I accepted the offer.
  3. I made a lot of videos and photos for my writing sites.
  4. I made 2 gingerbread houses for my dutch nephews.
  5. I have made my first fondant roses for my cupcakes.

I am sure I have done a lot of things on and offline but I don´t know what else at this moment. Ah, I have a new writing gadget. It´s Samsung tablet and I find it good though I have not checked all what I can do with it.

Thanks for reading. Merry Christmas to all!!!

25th Reunification Day

The Remnants of Berlin Wall, Germany

Today, October 3 is the 25th Reunification Day, Tag der Deutschen Einheit, between the East and the West of Germany. Around 100 thousands of people celebrated the 25th Reunification Anniversary in Frankfurt.

How fast was the time. I can still remember in the 80´s when a German was shot by a soldier at the eastern side of the Berlin Wall  trying to jump over to the west. How horrible was that for me watching in front of the TV, gobsmocked by the tragic event.

I can still remember the day when the German people celebrated the opening / fall of the Berlin Wall. When the East and West Germans were jumping up and down, danced on the streets, rejoiced for that wonderful event. People were crying, hugging each other and some were climbing on top of the Berlin Wall, some were scratching  some pieces of the wall and demonstrating the freedom they have on that day on. It was a very weird feelings for me as an outsider living in Germany.

Reunited for 25 years, there´s no more East and West Germans. Freedom for all the Eastern Germans to go when and wherever they want to. No more boundaries except in the mind of other Germans. Plenty of things have changed, for the good and for the bad of the country but it is not for me to complain. Germany is still the best country I have moved to.

A month ago, I went to Berlin and have visited the remnants of the Berlin Wall. It´s not much left but the one that still there is painted with graffiti art. For me, some look good. I think it´s the matter of taste. The short video below was taken by me last Aug. 29, 2015.

The Beauty of Autumn

Yes, it´s Autumn again in my adopted country. Autumn in Germany starts on the 21st of September. It does not mean that in that day, it´s automatically cold. The temperature drops down to 10° Celcius in the early morning but sometimes our Autumn weather is what we call "Altweibersommer" and it´s warm up to 22° Celcius.

This "Altweibersommer" is compared to the Indian summer when the colors of the leaves on the trees are  in yellow, golden and dark royal red shimmering color. The lack of chlorophyll in the leaves due to the lack of sunlight changes their colors into a beautiful foliage of Autumn.  Like the photos above and below which I have taken in our city a few years ago.

This is one of the best Autumn view of the tree. The vibrant color of the red orange leaves still hanging on the tree.
These shrubs in pink were once green in summer. I saw them in green leaves every time I passed this park in going to the city.
This is another beauty of Autumn in golden yellow while the leaves on the ground are wilting in dark brown color, waiting for the wind to blow them away. The trees are preparing for the winter season.

The falling leaves before my eyes were once so green. The day is getting shorter as well as the brightness of the sun. The weather is getting cold everyday. Rain is the constant guest to the misty breeze of the day.

Photos of the "Tag der Offenen Tür 2015" in the Bundeskanzler Building

A framed collage hanging on the wall in the hallway of Bundeskanzler building.
It was "Tag der offenen Tür 2015" in Bundeskanzleramt  in Berlin last August 29 and 30. The Bundeskanzleramt / Chancellor building was 2 days open to the public. 2 days when the locals and the tourists were able to see the inside of the building. It was the time and the chance of the Federal Government to represent to the people how the government works and to be in contact with the German citizen especially that this year was the 25th year of German reunification.

The entrance of the Bundeskanzler building.

Before the visitors were allowed to enter the Bundeskanzleramt building, the people had to give their bags to the staffs who were assigned for that in the huge built-in tent outside the Bundeskanzleramt building. People were only allowed to bring a small bag or purse with their cameras, smartphones and their important documents. There was a very strict security control before we were allowed to go inside the Bundeskanzleramt ground.

My visit to the Bundeskanzler building was an eventful one but sad to say I was not able to meet the Chancellor. I waited for hours until I got hungry and left the building.

Thank you very much for your visit and I hope you like the plenty of photos I have included in this blog. Please feel free to share this blog to any social media sites you want to. Of course you can comment below. Thank you!

Berlin Wall Turned Into An Art Wall

Stand alone Graffiti Art of the Berlin Wall. Beautiful!

Have you heard about the Berlin Wall in Germany? I know some of you have and some have not. So I will start with introducing to you the Berlin Wall.

Berlin Wall or Berliner Mauer was the long wall that divided the East and the West of Germany after the second world war. It was built by the East German Government DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) or GDR (German Democratic Republic) in 1961 until it was opened in 1989 after a massive escape of the East Germans to the West neighbouring countries.

I don´t want to go on details so please check this Wikipedia link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_Wall if you want to know more of the history behind the Berlin Wall.

What I want to show in this post are the photos of the Berlin Wall now after plenty of people broke the wall for their freedom. Some parts of the wall were taken down by the tourists as remembrance for their visits. There are souvenir shops selling small rocks of the wall but I wonder if they´re real.

I have seen the Berlin Wall through media in the early 80´s and it was indeed an ugly wall. A wall were plenty of east Germans were executed due to trying to escape from that wall and climbed over to the west part of Germany, in the time when East Germany was still a communist country. There were plenty of ugly and sad stories behind that wall that many  American and British movies were made.

Below are the photos I have taken. The Berlin Wall is still the center of attractions for the tourists but there is not much left of it. What is left is being used for Graffiti Arts.

The photo was taken from the eastern side of the Berlin Wall
Taken from the eastern part while waiting for the green light for us to cross to the west side of Berlin.

Dining At Ristorante Bellini

I had my birthday a few days ago but I did not celebrate it with my friends and relatives. I was not in the mood for celebration nowadays and so I even forgot it until a day before my birthday when my best childhood friend congratulated me on Fb. That was the time then for me to think where to have a dinner for 2 with my hubby. I searched online where to and decided to have an Italian dinner.

Balcony of Ristorante Bellini overlooking the city promenade.

I´m already scared to dine in a Chinese restaurant as the last 2 times, I was  sick the whole night after those dinners. I puked all the time in the loo that I said to myself, "no Chinese restaurant anymore."  If it should be Chinese food, then I have to cook it for myself. I think the food that I have eaten at those Chinese restaurants were already old or I am already sensitive to glutamate, the "silent killer".

Anti-Pasti / Starter

Anyway, we decided to have dinner at Ristorante Bellini  which was and still is located above the Berliner Tor (Gate) building in the city of Wesel. It was our first time to dine there and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was good and the food was delicious. We ordered  2 pizzas, Bellini for me and Diavolo for my better half.

Pizza Bellini was made of Parmesan cheese, salmon filet, fresh spinach while Pizza Diabolo was made of salami,  cheese, hot peperroni and of course tomatoes for both pizzas. While waiting for our orders, an anti-pasti / starter of pickled black olives, spiced butter and warm buns were served. It was a very delicious anti-pasti I have tasted.

I know it was not the last time I ate at Ristorante Bellini. The next time I have to order another menu. Before I forget, the price was affordable, the service was very good and I think it was the Italian owner / cook who came to our table and talked to us. This is my kind of review. Thumbs up to Ristorante Bellini!

Photos of the PPP weekend in Wesel, Germany

This weekend was a busy and a fun weekend for me and my friends. There was a PPP Festival in Wesel, a small city in North Rhine Westphalia. It was from Friday to Sunday on the first weekend of the month August. I have already written a lot about this city that those of you who have not read my articles, here´s the Hubpages link.

The Rhine river view from the overpass. The keys were locked in that iron fence by lovers who promised themselves to love each other forever.

I took a lot of photos at the Rhine as well as videos. Sad to say I could not post some of them to my channel at you tube because of the background music. I don´t like to be in trouble with the copyrights of those music. My channel is new and so I don´t have any idea yet what to do. I will only publish what is mine. That means no background music at all until I know further what to do. Anyway, here are some photos and a video for you to enjoy.

A boat cruise waiting for the PPP fireworks to start last Saturday.

Boats were waiting for the fireworks to start. It started at 10 pm.

An awesome view from where we sat at the bank of the Rhine river.

To Use or Not to Use Umbrella in Summer

Happy New Week World! How´s your weather there in your neck of the world? Have you celebrated the 4th of July? Germany don´t celebrate that day. We celebrate every 3rd of October, our Reunifacation Day and that is the celebration of the reunion of the east and west  of Germany.

Going back to the weather. We have a very hot summer and it has just started a week ago. Last Saturday, the 4th of July, our weather was 40°C. I think we have a heat wave here. It was so hot to go outside but I had to go out as I needed something for my cake decoration. I did not bake a cake, I just made a no bake iced cake. When I went out, I thought I could have brought an umbrella with me to keep me from the hurtful sun but I did not do it.

You know why? I did not like to be popular after that. I did not want to catch the eyes of the people who might be staring at me like an alien and might be taking a photo of me with their smartphones. I did not want to be in the front page of the newspapers or might landed in you tube channel and be viral in twitter or so. Oh my! when I think about it...why not! LOL!

Cologne at the Rhine River, Germany

I know, you think I should. Right?!! Asian women are carrying umbrellas in their hands when going out under the heat of the sun. They use umbrellas so they will not get brown. But Asians are very different than Europeans or Americans. They use whitening soaps, lotions, etc... for their skin to become white. So it´s understandable that using umbrella is a normal thing to do in Asian countries. Don´t get me wrong. I love my brown skin. I don´t like to get white as I am always appreciated in having a brown complexion. I just don´t like to have a severe headache or a migraine.

So what now!? To use or not to use umbrella in Germany! I have not seen a single person using umbrella in summer unless it´s raining. I might become a sensation, a celebrity if I do that. Well, I will never know unless I´ll do that. Well then, let´s have an experiment.I´ll do that only if it´s almost 40°C again.

Thanks for reading my blablabla again but you have learn something from my post. Enjoy your week. God bless!
